Is There Any Better Teacher Than Travel? ✈️
Some experiences shape us more than any classroom ever could.
For the past three weeks, I’ve been travelling through Southeast Asia on my way back to Sydney, Australia, after 16 incredible years in Canada.
By the time I leave Bali at the end of this month, I’ll have visited 80 countries, a milestone that has me reflecting on a powerful question:
Is there anything in life more transformative than travel?
As you read, I’ve included some pictures from my recent Southeast Asia trip. It was hard to keep it to just a few!

How It All Started
My love for travel didn’t happen overnight. It all started when I moved to London at 23. A friend’s older sister had done it before us, and after hearing her stories, we wanted to experience the same.
I never imagined how that decision would change my life forever. From then on, travel became more than a passion - it shaped my perspective, career, and appreciation for the world.

A Powerful Realization From This Trip
On this recent journey through Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, one thing stood out:
👉 The people who have the least, in material terms, often seem the happiest.
In Vietnam, our local guide shared how she wakes up at sunrise to take tourists around, then goes home to a one-room house with her family.
He spoke with pride, not about wealth, but about his culture, community, and life's simple joys.
It was a humbling reminder: Happiness isn’t found in things but in experiences, connections, and gratitude.

The Best Things to Collect Aren’t Things
This trip reinforced something I’ve come to believe deeply:
What we collect in life shouldn’t be things.
The best souvenirs aren’t objects - they’re experiences and memories.
The most valuable lessons come from stepping outside our comfort zones.
So, I challenge you: Travel more. Explore more.
There’s an entire world out there waiting to teach you something new.
What’s a place that changed your perspective? I’d love to hear about it!
